Te Papa

Te Papa is New Zealand’s national museum in Wellington. It is open 365 days a year, and its collections cover everything from the world of the Maori as tangata whenua (the first settlers of Aotearoa, New Zealand), New Zealand’s animals and plants (from the kiwi to the kauri), the powerful geological forces that shape New Zealand’s landscape, to the heaviest colossal squid ever caught.

The Museum has lots of special exhibitions aimed at children, particularly during the school holidays, so make sure you check out what’s on if you are travelling with kids.
